Hey guys,

I was just wondering, why are people being so un-origional? Like with MMOCC names, its either "Echo Town or Virtual Villiage" or something like that... The concepts of almost every MMOCC on the forum, like credits/tokens/vouchers. Changing the name doesn't make it more exciting!

Lil' praise to Bitty Bay btw, although they use bb bits, they have a very origional idea using animals instead of real people, and as well as visionaire and suerte heights, they didn't include Town/City/Villiage in their names

Anyway, sorry for a little rant, just alot of people (including me) like origionality, after all... who wants 15 habbo hotels?

Thanks, Flame
P.S. Post your opinion!
P.S.S. I didn't include maroon mysteries, so not to sound bias.

I'm kind of annoyed with all the cities and everything. I'd like to see more from them before they announce they are an MMOCC. Kinda like BIitty Bay did. No one knew who they were till they introduced them selves and when they did they had a working beta.

Neither did Archimedes Cruises.

Yea, the have 15 because not everyone speaks the same language. And if I try to get on to the Dutch hotel, I can't. It is to try to keep it pure to the country it is hosted in.

Things make sense if you take the time to think them through.

As the common "City, Village, Town" can be a large scale theme base through the whole MMOCC where as coming up with your own name and theme can be alot harder, often the "City, village, Town" is a base for the name and theme but then it gets expanded into large scales such as yes its based on a Village but within Village's there's buldings such as "pubs" and you can have "pub" like furni and such.

The question is; what are we going to do about it? Make all the IMCE owners change the name?

I completely disagree.

You're saying that MMOCCs that include the words city, town, or village in their name lack originality. The fact is, that's a very dangerous assumption. Let's take a closer look at some of the comments users have made!

What if Bitty Bay called themselves Bitty City? Bitty City would still use animals instead of humans. And as you've mentioned, the animal concept is extremely original and creative. So, does switching Bay with City make Bitty Bay any less original?

Further more, there is a reason as to why so many people have used 'real people' as their in game characters. We are all real people (except of course Lex who happens to be from Mars). And therefore, consumers will relate better to 'real people' characters.

And since you've mentioned Habbo Hotel, let's look at them as well. The majority of Habbo Hotel's consumers are still visiting because they enjoy Habbo Hotel's market/trading system. Can you trade/market without some sort of financial presence?

When the Visionire team started out as Fusion City, were they any less original? Would Suerte Heights be any less original if they were Suerte Village or Suerte City?

I understand that you and many others (including myself) like to see a sense of originality. But weighing originality on a company's title leaves you with an inaccurate assumption. I just don't think it's fair to base an opinion off of one or two features - big or small.

In my opinion, this thread seems like encouragement to judge a book by its cover. And if you do that, you're running the risk of missing the excitement inside.

Again, this is just my opinion ^^

I agree with Disco. You shouldn't automatically judge a MMOCC unoriginal because they have used a town/city/village in their name. I believe its the actual content within the client that deems them original or not. Some owners just want to name them a city or town or village because, well, thats what they are.

@Wolfy,
I believe by 15 Habbo Hotels he means 15 Habbo 'copycats', not their actual hotels.

An old saying comes to mind, 'don't judge a book by its cover'. I do believe a name needs to be catchy, but I don't really see anything wrong if it is a city, town or village. If you're trying to be unique and working your ideas around that theme you might not do as well as if you'd have just gone with the flow and your original ideas.

I, for one, wouldn't make a game based on the moon if I had lots of ideas for a game based in the city. The name sets the theme, in most cases, and the theme defines the quality of the game. It is up to the management of individual IMCEs to see which theme they can manage and succeed with easily.

It's very narrow-minded to rule out an IMCE because they're a city, town or village.
