Hi everyone - I thought id give you all something after years of not posting.. I still lurk around the forums, but I haven't really been on this site for a while.

Anyway - some of you may remember Vitare. Vitare is an upcoming 3D virtual world currently in development, which will be available to play for free. Once Vitare is released, players will have the ability to create theirselves or alternate persona, build the perfect house or business with powerful architectural tools, explore a world created by the imagination of it’s players and meet new people through social interactions and more.

Since this project set foot in May 2009, it has gone through numerous staff changes, engine changes, and planning. Now we know the direction we've wanted for a long time now - and we have the right team with us with talented individuals.

The Team

Me - Management - Web & Community - Business
Dillon - Game Programmer
Ahmed - Game Programmer
Alex - 3D Modeller
Aslynn - 2D Artist - Head of Art

And we currently have two more people interested in joining the team for 3D modelling and as a texture artist.

So, what proof of development do we have? We made the best decision in the history of Vitare, and switched to the Unity3D engine. Unity3D suited our needs and allowed us to easily work together on the project. We can now make this game work on Mac, aswell as PC, easily with it's export tools - and we have the power to possibly in the future create a mobile app for Vitare on Android and iOS. We have received a small amount of funding from our growing community, which was $265 towards future servers, website hosting, and development.

Videos

We have also created two development videos. Once in October, and we released another at the start of Februrary - and have done more work since then too.

The first one showcased simple terrain tools we were working on for our build mode in-game.

The second video showcased improved terrain tools, the tile grid, wall placement, and the new camera.

Since Dillon joined the team, we have been moving at a more rapid development pace with the GUI working in-game, floor tools, textures, functional login screen and more server-side things.

Future

Vitare, which emerged from this forum back in 2009, is now nearing a BETA release late this year. We plan to release a teaser such as a Home Builder tool to allow people to experiment with the build/buy tools, give us feedback, and be creative.

We encourage you to follow the project - and submit ideas and feedback since Vitare is extremely based around it's community and their ideas to create a fun game that they'll enjoy.

Good to hear. Looking forward to a release. I hope to see more user control than other projects of this genre.
