In your opinion, what is some software you find absolutely essential to building or running a successful MMOG. Obviously, some people perfer custom-made solutions so feel free to post why you'd perfer a custom-made solution for that department (or for the whole project).

It will be different for everyone depending on what lenguages you choose for server and client, how you want to distribute your game, etc.
GIMP for graphics (

NetBeans for Server (

MySQL for DB (
http://mysql.com)
And, one million notepads and a billion pens (

What about customer service, project management, content management system (CMS (If you choose to have one)), internal/ external communications etc?
