At the Eco Products 2010 exhibition in Tokyo, Sony displayed their Hana Mado, a power generating window is a dye-sensitized solar cell.
I think this could be very successful if sold at the right price, and if not subsidized by the government because if they really think that there is global warming & change if we proceed to do the everyday things in today's society we should think very closely to just design eco friendly productions until everything is eco friendly to last a few more generations.
I hope this product makes it to the shelves as it is only now a prototype.

S0 it's just a window with translucent solar panels embedded?

They could paint this dye or whatever it is all over windows across the world & it'd lower the use of energy by some degree.

Well no... they generate energy. It might lower fossil fuel energy usage but that's unlikely, the cost to produce and transport these over the world can be a lot more than is saved.

You know, it doesn't matter how much energy you use... At least 50% of electricity generated is wasted. All these ideas are ridiculous, the only thing they'll save is a few pennies from your pocket .
