This isn't an OS war. Apple sucks. Apple isn't an OS. MAC OS X IS THE OS!
apple remote malfunctioning
Why does everything turn into a os war....
Im guessing that if the receiver works wit q cup in front of t then its broke and maybe its something to do with it being magnified. Put a magnifier in front of it and tell me what happen.
(dad told me to ask you)
Edit:
If it receives without trouble with thd magnifier the receiver is not picking up signals correctly. If not then the receiver is dead. For both problems the easiest and cheapest way to fix is to replace it. Ring up Apple Customer support and if you get thought try and ask them about a way of getting it fixed or maybe even replaced.

All warrentys suck for every product, you gt used to it.
Tbh if its working with the sticker then the control might be emitting too many signals. Or the receiver is not picking up the signals or is picking up signals from other remotes, tvs, etc..

Go and sit downstairs in the Conservatory in the dark, and see if it works. I say the Conservatory because it has no electronic items that could give off IR.
