Right so i am in the uk with this laptop. The fan is always running so it is a killer on battery and my hard drive temp averages around 45c which is not the best for a laptop. I've had a look around the interwebz and it is all paid program's so i'm looking for your help (daniel or james).
Under volting intel m
You could reduce the voltage of the actual CPU which would reduce the temperature and if your motherboard has smartfan then it will automatically reduce cooling power.
Reducing the voltage will mean reducing the actual clock frequency as you will get a 12v power-rail shortage if you don't which could lead to the CPU malfunctioning
I wouldn't go with anything more than a celeron in a laptop, just because of that. C2D's blow your balls off if you have it on your lap for over 10 minutes

Look in the BIOS for smartfan and enable it
And enable (Never thought id say this I hate it) speedstep, it underclocks your processor when you arent doing that much
