Many times have we, staff of MMOCCF and myself, seen users do what's called, "Back seat moderation".
Most of the time, it's users encouraging others not to:
- Spam
- Bump old threads
- Post off-topic
While it's okay for you all to encourage users to follow the posted rules, you have to remember to use the post report system so a staff member can address the situation appropriately!
I'm sure I can vouch for majority of us when I say that when users tell each other what to do, nothing good tends to come out of it. Some might not reply to your advice as positively as you'd like.
Seeing as most people don't like to be told what to do by each other, what may start out as a simple, "Don't spam!" easily transforms into a off-topic flame war.
Whenever you see something that's disregarding the rules, whether it be an off-topic post, an intent to argue, or simply bumping an old thread, please let us know. Otherwise, we might not catch something as quickly as we can when you report it, which in turn will cause the initial problem to escalate.
