Is it just me, or does MMOCC stand for:
Massive
Multiplayer
Online
Chat
Community
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The first MMOCC i knew, was habbo, you DONT need private rooms or public rooms for an MMOCC, it doesnt even have to be isometric.
Most MMOCCs nowerdays are technicly copying habbo, with the private rooms ect.
All that is needed is a way to chat with multiple users to be an MMOCC.

I see alot of MMOCCs claiming to be original, then, when i look at them, they have:
Private rooms
Isometric avatars
Public rooms (MOST)
And lets take a look at some of Habbo's features:
Private rooms
Public rooms
Isometric avatars
Hmmmm.....
Doesnt seem very original to me.
You can pass a simple P2P chat program as an MMOCC, aslong as it supports multiple users.
And why dont we ever see non isometric MMOCCs?
You answer that.

Original? I think not!
well done child
Heh, thanks Loz, but this thread is true.
Very true.
An MMOCC only needs 1 feature:
Multiple user chat.
Simple.

True, I guess Isometric Pixel Art MMOCC's are more appealing to the eye than a simple PSP chat program with no graphics?
As for the copying Habbo with the public rooms. I guess you are correct there. Well done young one.

Well you kind of need private rooms, to gain money for purchasing things, otherwise your not making any money really.
I can see what you are getting at though.

I said the same to dan, someone will come up with a new concept eventually
Because all of these features have worked successfully and profitably in Habbo, other chats have found the use for these.
The reason they're all isometric is because we're choosing to develop isometric chats, they are eye catching and coder friendly- much more interesting than a basic chat box. But if you feel you could make a more successful chat box, you feel free.
What you have said seems to be you picking at straws, trying to find ways of putting down the developers on this forum. Originality isn't about being 100% original, it can be about taking an idea that already exists and making something new and exciting out of it.
And your final question is- why don't we see any non isometric MMOCC's?
I think someone needs to look around, there have been non isometric MMOCC's that i've visited and other members have posted on this forum- ones i cannot remember for the life of me what their names are, but im sure some of the members will prove you wrong.

I've got a few good ideas for a 'new generation' MMOCC. They're quite obvious if I'm honest, and it's shocking no-ones touched them yet... Actually, one game I know have touched the concept but thats a MMORPG. It's ultra popular though, and the storyline behind it is great. Hmmm... They can be done, I might note a few ideas down when I'm brainstorming later on.
The fact is though, most MMOCCs are actually based off 'The Sims' & 'Habbo Hotel'. It's only them 2 because they're the most successful, and SecondLife do the same thing, yknow? Just... Think outside the box.

I heard a pretty unique concept from Tomi once, a project we were thinking of working on at one point... Sure it was isometric, but it had some really unique stuff. Stuff that's never been featured in an MMOCC before.
It is really amazing when you put your mind to think about how to be original.. And not copy the simple, 'Habbo Public/Own Rooms'. I know you shouldnt compare games, but everygame that has 'Users rooms' is just a copy imo.
Somebody needs to push the boat out, come up with Unique, awsome ideas that will shock the whole community. Untill that day, i shall pray.
