Second one is a really bad image format.
Instead of changing an image format slightly drop down the image Quality when saving.
If you only slightly drop the quality, not much will change in quality and the file size will drop by a fair amount.

Yeah that second image is horrible image quality. Do what Eckon said to make it better.
