I think this has been going around the forums for years wanting one, personally, I don't feel the need for one but oh well

It will increase forum activity, it'll increase the number of users online at a time. It may affect the number of posts positively or negatively.

I think it would reduce the amount of posts. And if no-ones on, could make the forum look dead.

we've had this poll tons of times, shoutbox kills part of the posting, like kai said.

however, i think we should have a chat. possibly with an IRC channel.

Well its not like the posts are magically appearing. Not many threads and posts are being created at this time anyways.

So whichever. Doesn't matter to me.

I think it will be a good idea since not many people post.
I mainly just read new posts when I come online but a shoutbox might encourage users to post about topics said in the shoutbox.

I voted no. As people have said, it'll decrease the number of posts made. Also, it looks terrible on the home page :[. If it's a pop-up chatbox then yeh, go for it.

Tbh, there's a major lack of posts anyways.

The chatbox may entice people to stay on the site longer, so they might post more..
