What is Cape Noir and who are we?
Hey forum goers,

So you might have seen me posting a bit about my own project over the last few weeks and now I'm here to tell you more about it and the direction we are taking it in.

First of all, who are we? We are a small independent team with past experience in creative development, design and previous MMOCC projects. Our intention is to develop a new MMOCC by taking a step back and re-evaluating the standard conventions and uses MMOCC's have seen so far. We believe that by doing this we can achieve a new successful service that will benefit the online community.

Take note; Cape noir is not the final name of our product but it is the name we will be running under so we can more easily refer to the project.

So What is Cape Noir?

Cape Noir is aimed at an older audience to most MMOCC's and refocuses on the social side of the net. I refer to it as more of a web application or service rather than a 'game' due to the lack of a motivational objectives. We don't expect people to play in order to collect items or gain points the same way other social services have no motivational objective.

Most social services have little to none live interaction and participation between its users and while we are not creating a new social network we will be providing a gateway for users of these services, that is the aim of Cape Noir. To create a connectable massively multiplayer online chat community that refocuses on the social net.

Cape Noir is also a non-profit organisation. We seek to gain no profit from our endeavours and instead hope to help the online community and encourage creativity. As part of this ethos, we support all small start ups and will offer any help we can to hobbyists and indie developers in an attempt to create better relations across the web and strengthen the MMOCC scene.

Since we are a small independent team ourselves, we will be documenting our progress here so if your interested you can follow along with us. We will post updates as they come so you can follow along with all development (the only behind the scenes acton will be boring information such as site maintinance and so forth).

So without further ado, i introduce to you, Cape Noir.

Xander James
